Hit and run suspected in city fatality

A Fort Stockton man found dead Saturday morning on a roadway inside of city limits was believed to have been killed in a hit-and-run incident, according to the Fort Stockton Police Department. FSPD identified the man on Tuesday as 52-year-old Rogelio Martinez Leyva, who was a resident of Fort Stockton.

Celina Acosta Mata, of Fort Stockton at 1:31 a.m., officers with the Pecos County Sheriff’s Office apprehended Mata on an MTR warrant for possession of a controlled substance. Mata received a $5,000 bond and is still in jail as of March 29.
