Fort Stockton Council Designates New “Paisano Pete Park”

The Fort Stockton City Council met for a special session on Monday evening, March 16, to move forward on several major community development and infrastructure projects. Presided over by Mayor Paul Casias, the meeting centered on enhancing local recreation while maintaining the city’s commitment to transparency and public safety.

Hanson reigns “supreme” at Houston Livestock Show

Meagan Hanson capped off an incredible year of hard work and dedication by earning Reserve Supreme Overall Scramble Winner at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. After catching a calf at last year’s show, Meagan committed the past year to selecting, raising, and preparing her heifer for competition.

World-Class Classical Music Graced Fort Stockton Public Library

On Tuesday evening, March 17, the Fort Stockton Public Library was transformed into a concert hall as it hosted a performance by two renowned artists from The Piatigorsky Foundation. The event, which began at 6:00 PM, featured clarinetist Katsuya Yuasa and pianist Mary Au, bringing a program of classical masterpieces to the local community.

Laundry and Bourbon

Actors and crew from Fort Stockton Community Theatre will perform Laundry and Bourbon, a one-act play by James McLure, tomorrow, Friday, March 13, for competition in the Theatre Network of Texas’ (TNT) TEXFest. The performance will be at 4:15 p.m.

Step Back in Time

Residents of Fort Stockton will soon have the chance to experience the sights and sounds of the 19th century as the Fort Stockton Historical Society and The Annie Riggs Museum present “Living History Days”. Scheduled for March 26–28, this three-day event invites families to Historic Fort Stockton for a “weekend of hands-on history, culture, and frontier adventure.” The event is free to the public and runs daily from 10 a.m.

Emergency park repairs

The Pecos County Commissioners Court met in regular session Monday to authorize several high-priority expenditures, including major law enforcement upgrades and critical infrastructure repairs for county recreational facilities. A significant portion of the meeting focused on public safety equipment.

Watching the Olympics

Last week my wife and I would sit on our couch in the evenings and watch the highlights of the Olympics. We loved seeing the different events and seeing all the athletics from different countries. It takes a lot of dedication, sacrifice and effort to qualify for the Olympics. Anyone there is a winner, but some get special recognition like gold, silver and bronze.
