Traditional Japanese Tea Service Takes Center Stage

Fort Stockton Community Theatre, in conjunction with ChunkArts Studio, is bringing a unique experience to Fort Stockton. On Saturday, June 20, two Japanese ladies will serve and demonstrate to patrons a traditional tea ceremony on stage at The Nelson Street Theatre, 102 South Nelson.

Patrons can purchase a sitting for up to four people for $10.00 per person. Sittings will begin at 1:00 and continue in fifteen-minute time slots until 5:00 p.m. Accommodations will be made for people to sit at a table rather than the traditional floor mat.

The first twenty-five patrons will be treated to a handmade sweet made in Japan called Wagashi. Wagashi are traditional Japanese confections known for their delicate flavors, textures, and beautiful, nature- inspired designs, often served with green tea. You can reserve a time slot by calling Alice Duerksen at 336-3180 (leave a message if necessary). Tickets may be paid for at the door with cash or credit card. Patrons may also simply walk in at The Nelson Street Theatre and wait for an opening.
