National 4-H Week designated for Oct. 3-10
The largest youth development organization in Texas receives recognition in Pecos County.
At its Sept. 13 meeting, the Pecos County Commissioners Court proclaimed Oct. 3 through Oct. 10 as National 4-H Week in Texas and commended the 4-H Youth Development Program of the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service for 114 of service.
Texas 4-H reaches more than 550,000 youth participants with diverse backgrounds from urban, suburban and rural areas.
“This admirable program,” the proclamation reads, “which seeks to provide a learning experience for the whole child, including head, heart, hands and health, helps young Texans to acquire knowledge, develop life skills and form attitudes to enable them to become self-directed, productive and contributing members of our society.”
