Local author and illustrator Jenny B. Tavarez is launching the Texas Animal Book summer reading tour for kids, beginning July 15 in her hometown at the Fort Stockton Public Library. Due to safety guidelines most stops in west Texas will be virtual, prerecorded, or scheduled at a later date.

“During the lockdown and with my newborn daughter, I decided it would be so special to make a book for her about Texas animals. I kept seeing videos on how people can sell their books using Kindle Publishing. So, I researched everything that I needed to self-publish my book and that is how, "The Texas Animal Book", came to be on Amazon and through Extended Distribution on Barnes and Noble.

Inspired by her West Texas upbringing, the Texas Animal Book is filled with the animals and scenery found in Texas’ rural hills. The book uses rhyme to describe characteristics of a longhorn, coyote, black bear and more! The information from the book is factual and can be used for educational purposes. People wishing to attend the live reading with Jenny on July 15 at 10:00 a.m. at the Fort Stockton Public Library can purchase the book in advance, limited copies will be available for sale at the event.

The book reading event is free and open to children of all ages. Guests can expect a book signing, meet and greet with Jenny, book reading, children’s activities, and refreshments.

For more information on tour dates or to request Jenny to do a book reading at your next event or autograph your copy of the Texas Animal Book follow Jenny on her public Facebook page: @JennyBTavarez or reach out at jjenny@att.net.
