COVID-19 active cases reach 20-week high in Pecos County
The COVID-19 active case total hit a five-month high on Monday, Aug. 2 in Pecos County according to a report provided by the county’s emergency management coordinator Jessie Dominguez.
There are currently eight active cases in the county – the highest total since March 12 (143 days ago).
Heading into Monday, there were three active cases and that number increased by five due to seven positive tests.
There were two recoveries reported on Monday to reach the eight active case total.
There are no additional tests pending as of Aug. 2
Monday’s report showed that the following people tested positive for the virus over the past five days:
- 42-year-old male, unknown contraction, tested on Aug. 2.
- 85-year-old female, contraction from confirmed case, tested on Aug. 2
- 61-year-old male, unknown contraction, tested on Aug. 2
- 30-year-old female, unknown contraction, tested on Aug. 2
- 32-year-male, unknown contraction, tested on July 30
- 26-year-old female, unknown contraction, tested on July 28
- 28-year-old male, unknown contraction, tested on July 28
The seven new positive tests reported comes on the eve of the vaccine clinic that is being held at Fort Stockton High School by way of partnership with the National Guard. There will be 350 COVID-19 vaccines available for students 12 and older, teachers, and the community. Shots are free.
Pfizer and a limited number of Johnson & Johnson vaccines will be available.
The clinic starts at 9 a.m. at the Fort Stockton High School Special Events Center.
Classes across all campuses of the Fort Stockton ISD are scheduled to begin on Aug. 16.
