Last week Pecos County accepted a generous donation for the dedication of a plaque, a 203-pound bronze Col. William Barrett Travis 'Victory or Death' Alamo plaque, for the Pecos County Courthouse, in Fort Stockton.

The Fort Stockton City Council held its regularly scheduled meeting on Monday, June 24. First and foremost, at this meeting, the council welcomed the local HAM radio operators club forward to receive recognition and a plaque for the service they provide to the community, especially in cases of emergency.

The Pecos County Commissioners Court held its regularly scheduled meeting on Monday morning at 10 a.m., June 24. During this meeting, the court approved the future installation of the Alamo Letter Society’s plaque with the “Victory or Death” letter by William Barret Travis.

The Fort Stockton Independent School District held a regular School Board meeting on Monday, June 24. This meeting had only a few items on the agenda; however, the contentious content regarding the year-round calendar proposal extended the discussions to two hours.
