Reflection

Body
November is upon us! It hardly seems possible that this year is coming to a close, doesn’t it? And if you have followed the news at all, doom and gloom is upon us, no matter which person has won the presidential election. (As these articles have to be turned in several days ahead of time, that has still not been decided at the time of this writing.) We might ask ourselves; do we remember that in the end of all things it is our Creator who has the final word, and not us? Perhaps we can contemplate that before we post hateful messages on Facebook or Instagram, or before we post a video on Tik Tok that lambasts the “other” side, whichever side that is.

The Little Sunflower

Body
My wife had a small concrete area in our back yard where she fed the birds and sometimes that included sunflower seeds. I guess one of those seeds got blown off the concrete pad and fell into a crack in the dirt and sprouted. Anyway, we had one sunflower plant that was about two feet tall. I really did not think it would survive the dogs, lawnmower, weed eater or grandchildren but it did. I watched that plant very closely. I observed that in the early morning before the sun rose the plant was droopy looking, but when the sun came out, that changed. It seemed like the plant stretched upward as high as it could get and it faced toward the sun. The beautiful bright yellow petals were fully opened so as to get every bit of available sunlight. It seemed like that little plant lived just to see the sun or be in the sunlight everyday. Watching that little plant reminded me of a wonderful opportunity Christians have. Yes, we may have exposure to the sunlight but what is even better is exposure to the, (Sonlight). That is being in the presence of the living resurrected Christ. Everyone that has called upon the Son of God to be their personal Lord and Savior has this privilege and opportunity, (John 8:12, 12:35, 1 John 1:5-7). Let us bask in the, (Sonlight) daily, (1 John 1:3). See you in Church next Sunday. Brother J

Big Bend Sector Boosts Border Security with New High-Tech Surveillance Towers

Body
The U.S. Border Patrol’s Big Bend Sector has strengthened its border security with the recent installation of two additional Autonomous Surveillance Towers (ASTs), enhancing the sector’s ability to monitor and respond to activity along the U.S.-Mexico border. These solar-powered towers, equipped with long-range sensors and thermal imaging technology, are designed to provide continuous, real- time surveillance, even in the rugged and remote areas of the Big Bend region.

Decades of Excellence in Golf Coaching

Body
Houston - David Shuster, the longstanding architect of the Houston Christian University (HCU) golf program, has transformed the school’s golf teams into a powerhouse since he was tasked with reviving the program in 2006. Now stepping into the role of Director of Golf while continuing as the Men’s Head Coach, Shuster leaves an impressive legacy from his dual role as head coach for both the men’s and women’s teams over his nearly two-decade tenure.
