Panthers edge Monahans behind Diaz’s 13 Ks

Friday night the Fort Stockton High School baseball Panthers competed against Monahans in a thrilling 1-0 ballgame that the Panthers would win. Gerry Diaz started on the mound for the Panthers and struck out 13 batters and only allowed one hit on the night. Julian Leyva, Bryan Encinas and Corbin Luna would each get a hit for the Panthers. Bryan Encinas scored the lone run for the Panthers off of a sacrifice fly from Corbin Luna. Julian Leyva came on in relief to pitch in the seventh inning and he would get the last three outs by striking out the side.

Middle School swimmers set records in Monahans

The FSMS Blue Wave swim team competed at the Monahans Invitational Friday, March 22, where a remarkable five school records were broken. The boys couldn’t let the girls have all the fun breaking records. The 200 Freestyle Relay of Grayson Foster, Camiren Sexton, Haizen Gregory, and Mason May broke the long-standing record by two seconds that was set in 2016 with a time of 2:21.41.

Prowlers hold off Maidens, fall to Monahans

Prowler softball returned to action here at Fort Stockton on Tuesday, March 19 vs. Seminole. The Prowlers started off red-hot with three runs in the first, third and fourth innings as they built a 9-0 lead; however, the Maidens would not give up and fought back with six runs in the fifth and seventh innings but it would not be enough as the Prowlers plated four runs of their own in the bottom of the sixth inning to secure the victory 13-12. It was a hard-fought game between two state ranked teams and the huge crowd would help ensure the victory for the Prowlers.

The Little Snow White Lamb

We were busy feeding the sheep and I did not notice when he walked up. He stayed with the other baby lambs while their mothers were eating. Maybe it was the pure snow white color or maybe his size because he was a couple of inches taller than the other lambs. Every time we went to feed those sheep I looked for him. Sometimes I would see him and his mother coming across the pasture and he might be skipping or hopping or running in circles around her. Yes, he is a lamb but he is little different from the others.
