Robert Preston of Fort Stockton and his crew fire “The Judge,” a 3-inch ordnance rifle, during the Horsehead Crossing Trails of Time Living History event on Saturday afternoon, Preston said this was the third year his crew has fired the cannon at Horsehead Crossing. The 3-inch ordnance rifle was created in the 1850s in West Point, N.Y. and were key during the Civil War.
Horsehead Crossing played host to its annual Trails of Time Living History event Oct. 28-29 with live cannon fire, chuck wagon meals and camping along the Pecos River. Guest speakers and Reenactors such as this Civil War Union Soldier brought history to life.
