Brenna Downey is the Fort Stockton High School January Student of the Month. “Brenna is a junior and a dedicated member of the Prowler varsity volleyball and basketball teams, as well as FFA, NHS, and the welding program. She is described as a hardworking studentathlete who balances academics and athletics with discipline and consistency. Her leadership is highlighted by the energy, positivity, and effort she brings to every setting,” Downey’s school leadership shared.

A long-lost cemetery out in the mesquites and scrub brush of Pecos County has earned the designation of “Historic Texas Cemetery” from the Texas Historical Commission. The Buena Vista cemetery contains the graves of Hispanic workers who provided the labor for the community of Buena Vista, a little town that started as a land development in the early 1900s.
