FS swimmers compete in Pecos

The Fort Stockton High School Blue Wave swimmers competed in their first Tri-meet of the year Sept. 23 at Pecos, with the Boys placing second and the girls third, just one point shy of second place.

Lions Club of Fort Stockton presents donation

Lions Clubs International are “knights of the blind” and provide eyeglasses to those in need. Fort Stockton Lions Club donated $1,000 to some very prestigious travelers on Saturday, Sept. 30. Fellow Lion Dr. Tom Pruett, Rotarian Walter Branson, and Lion Alma Sanchez, lead the Guerrero Crystal Foundation. Dr. Pruett started the program in January 1981, providing eye exams to children in Chihuahua, Mexico. They now help people of all ages by providing eye exams, medical treatment, and food to Mexicans, Mennonites, and the Palomar Indians within the Chihuahua region.

NATIONAL NIGHT OUT

Fort Stockton celebrated National Night Out on Tuesday evening with activities at Pecos County State Bank, the Fort Stockton Chamber of Commerce and Williams Regional Technical Training Center. All three places had food, while the Chamber offered cornhole and other games, and PCSB offered bounce houses. National Night Out enhances the relationship between neighbors and law enforcement while bringing back a true sense of community and provides a great opportunity to bring police and neighbors together under positive circumstances.

Rotary Foreign Exchange Students meet for retreat

Six participants of the Rotary International Foreign Exchange Program traveled to Fort Stockton Sept. 7 for a three-day orientation and retreat. The students were accompanied by four sponsors from Rotary District 5520 and were greeted by members of the Fort Stockton Rotary Club, which played host to the meeting.
