The Literacy Coalition of the Permian Basin (LCPB) announced the expansion of their renowned literacy program, POWER Bag to the Pecos County Memorial Hospital. The development will further enhance early literacy efforts in the region and positively impact families in Pecos County.

Delia Jean Covington Mayes was born on May 8, 1928 in Floydada, Texas to Francis Milton Covington and Mattie Emma Hall-Covington. She was named for her paternal great-grandmother, Martha Adelia Clark. When she was one year old, she, parents, and older brother Bob moved to Daugherty, Texas. Several years later, two more brothers, Jack and Kent were born.

County continues COVID pay and leave

While the Covid-19 pandemic is behind us, for the most part, the Pecos County Commissioner’s Court on May 22 decided to keep it’s Covid -ay and leave policy as-is. “They’ve basically said Covid is not as hazardous as it was during the Covid era of the past couple of years,” said County Judge Joe Shuster.
