The Fort Stockton Film Society is showing the 1968 sci-fi film, Planet of the Apes, on Saturday, March 18 at 7:00 p.m. at the Nelson Street Theatre.

With the success of the new Fort Stockton Convention Center and the conjoining Panther Pictures, the Fort Stockton City Council amended the cleaning contract between the city and the move theatre on March 13 at their regular meeting.

The official start of spring is only days away, but before it arrives on our doorstep the yearly event known to all in the U.S. as spring break happens.

GUEST COLUMNIST Nefarious activities of a criminal organization that targeted Texans of Asian descent were exposed last month by The Dallas Morning News. The Texas Department of Public Safety inadvertently shipped thousands of driver’s licenses to a New York-based group with felonious intent that has ties in other states.

An interesting question came to me the other day about this “not quite yet” time of Lent that we have been talking about for the past couple of weeks as we prepare ourselves for Easter. Another championship was earned by the Panther track team on March 10 at the Sandhills Relays in Monahans, marking their second title in three outings this season. Zane Hodges won a trio of individual events – triple jump, 110-meter hurdles, 300 hurdles – Aryan Hernandez claimed a gold in the long jump, and Diego Ronquillo secured first place in the pole vault with a 10-foot clearance.
