November 1977 issue: FAMILY’S SECOND – Walter Campbell (third from right) was presented the rank of Eagle Scout in a Troop 54 court of honor ceremony at First United Methodist Church last Saturday evening. Walter’s older brother, John, also an Eagle, had the honor of presenting the badge to the family’s second member to attain the highest rank in Scouting. Fort Stockton Rotary Club secures distribution center

The city of Fort Stockton does not have a Goodwill, but instead distributes clothing and household items to the needy through a center called El Buen Viceno. For more than 30 years El Buen Vecino has provided quality, gently used items such as women’s, men’s and children’s clothing, books, electronics, furniture, and miscellaneous housewares to needy members of the Fort Stockton community.

HORSEHEAD CROSSING CELEBRATION

The Pecos County Historical Commission hosted a two-day event at Horsehead Crossing. The event was first held in 2020 to commemorate the various historical figures who passed over this well-known crossing throughout the 16th-19th centuries. The celebration featured a chuckwagon breakfast, storytelling and live fire demonstrations by historical re-enactors. Hasty demolition improves local neighborhood

Fort Stockton’s Substandard Building Committee was formed to ensure public safety by securing, repairing, or removing local properties that are abandoned or deemed hazardous. Another success story has resulted from the committee’s meetings with 802 W.
A before-and-after look at 802 W. Gallagher shows one of the most drastic transformations to be overseen by the Substandard Building Committee. Pablo Arispe Jr., of Fort Stockton at 12:14 p.m., officers from the Fort Stockton Police Department apprehended Arispe and he was charged with assault causes bodily injury family violence. Arispe received a $3,000 bond and is still in custody at the county jail.

Pfizer vaccines to be available for 5 to 11-year-olds in county

Body

The Pfizer vaccine will be available to children ages 5 to 11-years-old in Pecos County beginning on Thursday, Nov. 11.

Parents and guardians wanting to get their child vaccinated in that age range can schedule an appointment with the Family Care Center at Pecos County Memorial Hospital by calling 432-336-2291.

Appointment times available for children from ages 5-11 will be on Thursdays from 1:30 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Richard King Lewis II

Body

Richard King Lewis II passed away Oct. 24, 2021, at the age of 56. Our Heavenly Father called him home to claim victory over his long battle with cancer. Rikki was born on May 27, 1965, to Richard King Lewis and India Fleming-Lewis in Fort Stockton, Texas.
Rikki worked at several kinds of jobs in his early life before he decided on a career with Home Depot where he dedicated his time for 31 years.
