Many parents my age are currently experiencing empty nest syndrome/euphoria as they send their children off to college in hopes that, someday, their “babies” will graduate and come back home to pick up all of the junk they left crammed under their beds.

This week Texans, Americans, and all those who love freedom throughout the world will mark the 20th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks. Already we are bombarded with remembrances, the replay of minute-by-minute telecasts from that day, and the more scientific analysis of what happened to explain the horrific destruction of the World Trade Center towers.

The local Flying J Travel Center houses an electric vehicle charging station known as a Tesla supercharger. The self-driving cars coast into town for a charge on a daily basis, which is what brought in married couple Ever and Alejandra.

Storytelling workshop coming up soon

Fort Stockton Community Theatre invites young people 6-18 yearsold to attend a storytelling workshop conducted by Sue Roseberry, president of the Board of Directors for the Midland Storytelling Festival, on Saturday, Sept. 18, from 9:30 a.m.- 2:30 p.m. at the Nelson Street Theatre. There is a $10 fee for the day’s activities, but if young people would like to participate but cannot afford the fee, scholarships are available. FSCT wants all youth to participate in this event. Ministerial Alliance Honored

The Fort Stockton Ministerial Alliance and representative, First Baptist Church Pastor Warren Camp, was honored by the Fort Stockton Independent School District School Board for the donation of over a 1,000 backpacks that were given out to students for free.
