Angelo State University conferred 888 undergraduate and graduate degrees on 884 graduates during the 2021 spring commencement exercises on May 15, 2021, at the Junell Center/Stephens Arena in San Angelo, Texas.

South Plains graduates

Jessika Marquez of Fort Stockton graduated with an AAS in Accounting from South Plains College last month. Marquez was among more than 1,300 students who are being recognized for their academic achievement and resilience in a changing world.

County burn ban now off

The burn ban that has been in place in Pecos County since March 22 has now been lifted according to Pecos County Emergency Management Coordinator Jessie Dominguez. The order rescinding the burn ban was made official on June 1 after Pecos County Judge Joe Shuster signed the order.

There’s much to do, but let’s start with our own town

Gideon is known as a mighty warrior, but it was not so in the beginning. He was a scared fellow whom God found in a winepress. A winepress is a deep hole where grapes are thrown in and stomped on to make wine. That is where he was planting and harvesting! Anyway, this guy was afraid of everything.
