JC Ortiz and Matthew Galindo of Mesa Solutions presented a donation check of $2,000 to Frontier CASA in Fort Stockton on June 3. Ortiz, Galindo, and Mesa Solutions employees raised the money by volunteering for a variety activities and public services.

New sign installed at PCWID No. 1

The Pecos County Water Control and Improvement District #1 in Fort Stockton put up a new sign this past week to make the water district easier to find. The office also installed a flagpole that has both the American flag and Texas flag, which will soon be joined by the water district’s flag.

HOMEMADE FROZEN CUSTARD This recipe will yield1-1/2 quarts. INGREDIENTS • 4 cups milk • 1-1/4 cups sugar • 1/3 cup cornstarch • 1/8 teaspoon salt • 4 eggs • 1 can or14 ounces sweetened condensed milk • 2 Tablespoons vanilla extract PREPARATION In a large saucepan, heat milk to 175°.

The Fort Stockton City Council met in regular session on June 8, with Mayor Pro-Tem Paul Casillas leading the meeting. The council heard presentations from the Pecos County Appraisal District, the Police Department, and others.

Athletic Administrator Of The Year

Fort Stockton Athletic Director and head football coach Mike Peters was awarded and recognized as the Region IV Athletic Administrator of the Year this past weekend at the THSADA Hall of Honor Banquet at the Kalahari Resort in Round Rock alongside his wife Priscilla Peters.

Youth receive first set of vaccines in Pecos County

For the first time in Pecos County, individuals ages 12-15-years old received a Pfizer vaccine last week at a clinic held by Pecos County Memorial Hospital. PCMH held the clinic at its Specialty Clinic and administered 73 shots, 68 of which were between the ages of 12-15.

Aurora V. Gonzales entered rest on June 1, 2021. She was born on Dec. 6, 1959, to Margarito Gomez and Jesusita Velasquez. Aurora was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Jose Luis Gomez, Fernando Gomez, and Reynaldo Gomez; and sister Rosario Coronado.
