San Elizario shocks Panthers 44-27

In what vartsity head basketball coach Travis Lancaster called a shock, the Fort Stockton Panthers fell to the visiting San Elizario Eagles 44-27, Friday night at the Bill and Virginia Williams Special Events Center. The Panthers (214-1 overall) matched San Elizario’s speed and aggressiveness from the start, and held an 8-6 advantage after the first eight minutes of play behind strong play by Aundre Washington and Evan Cordero. But the Eagles (11-12) outscored the Panthers 7-2 in the second period and led 15-10 at halftime.

Prowlers go 2-3 in Monahans

The Fort Stockton Prowlers annual trip to the Monahans Chamber of Commerce Tournament saw Fort Stockton face some stiff competition, coming away from the three-day tournament with a 2-3 record. The Prowlers were 11-8 overall for the season entering Tuesday’s home battle against Midland Christian (13-8).

Panthers enter holiday break after loss to Permian

New Fort Stockton boys basketball coach Travis Lancaster has said he’s scheduled top competition in order to make the Panthers better. The Panthers certainly are physical, and have taken some lumps this season, and the team’s farewell to 2023 was certainly one of those games as Fort Stockton fell to an athletic Permian squad 108-50 on Dec. 19.
