Uniting Against Vouchers in Texas

Body
Recent victories in the Texas House of Representatives underscore the noticeable impact of grassroots advocacy efforts in thwarting detrimental changes to the educational system. Public school educators, alongside their allies, successfully opposed the introduction of vouchers in Texas, a contentious issue that could have significantly altered the landscape of education in the state for generations to come.

Headways Beauty Salon Celebrates 40 ‘Blessed’ Years in Business

Body
Since 1983, Elvira “Vira” Feyry has been cutting and styling hair as the owner of Headways Beauty Salon at 318 N. Main Street in what used to be the old Webb Cafe. To celebrate Headways’ 40th anniversary, Feyry pulled out all the stops on Saturday, Dec 1. In addition to a packed ribbon cutting ceremony, Headways provided clients hamburgers and hot dogs, and hosted a block party just outside the business, complete with vendors and music. The ribbon cutting ceremony, originally planned to be held outdoors, was moved inside due to high winds.
