Winning a game and committing eight turnovers in the process is a rare statistical pairing that would be nearly impossible for any team to accomplish on the gridiron. Fort Stockton didn’t just accomplish that feat; the Panthers’ victory was never in question after the first four minutes of Friday’s contest.

Fort Stockton was crowned team champions in three separate divisions and three individuals took home gold medals on Sept. 10 at the 19th Annual Wink Wildcat Cross Country Invitational.

Prowlers sweep Fort Davis

The Prowler volleyball program hosted their last home non-district matchup of the preseason on Tuesday, Sept. 13 against 1A Fort Davis. The varsity had one of their most dominant performances of the season with a victory in straight sets (25-17, 25-10, 25-13). The Prowlers totaled 36 total kills and 12 aces during the match.

Gene Cummings Park basketball pavilion nears completion

The newly constructed basketball pavilion at Gene Cummings Park in Fort Stockton is near completion. The metal pavilion and concrete floor were finished last month. The final piece that has yet to arrive is the basketball hoops, which will be placed east and west ends of the court. Prison overpopulation leads to contingency fund use

Pecos County’s contingency fund has been a lifeline for Pecos County Memorial Hospital this year and will continue to be through the end of 2023 at a minimum. The county’s fund balance is now adding another burden due to prison overpopulation at the county jail, the related rising costs of operation, and the supply chain shortage of vehicles.
