TransPecos Bank donates $10K to Coyanosa library

The TransPecos Bank branch in Alpine officially made a monetary donation of $10,000 to the Coyanosa Public Library at the Pecos County Commissioners regular meeting on June 13. The funds will be used for the facilities Summer Reading Program and for library funds to support the community efforts. Annexation denied by city council

A zoning distinction for the land which the Triple Crown Estates subdivision was set to be developed on was at the root of the property’s annexation denial on June 13 at the Fort Stockton City Council regular meeting.

NEW BUSINESS IN TOWN: BREW LANE CAFÉ EXPRESS

Brew Lane Café Express, owned by local pharmacist Gavyn Thomas and Leslie Rodriguez, opened their doors for the first time to the public on May 25. The business, located at 302 E. Dickinson Blvd., offers items that you can find nowhere else in town such as their nitro cold brew. FSPD to acquire new laptops

A 36-month lease for 13 new laptops for the Fort Stockton Police Department was approved on Monday at the Fort Stockton City Council meeting.

The city will use part of their remaining balance from the American Rescue Plan fund, which was at $166,000 before the lease agreement according to city manager Frank Rodriguez.

The laptops lease will cost $24,640 per year.

Skyrocket, missile fireworks prohibited in county

Body

Rooney Park in Fort Stockton, Sheffield Park, and Iraan’s Alley Oop Park will be the three locations in Pecos County without any firework restriction on July 4.

The restriction was put in place due to the drought conditions in the county.

The Pecos County Commissioners Court approved a restriction at their regular meeting on June 13 for fireworks classified as “skyrockets with sticks” and “missiles with fins” in any portion of the unincorporated area of Pecos County.

Charles Massey El Jr., of Houston at 8:59 a.m., officers from the Department of Public Safety apprehended Massey El and he was charged with five counts of smuggling of persons. Massey El received bonds totaling $50,000 and is still in jail.

Nancy Joyce Stewart, 83, of Greenville, Texas, passed away on June 13, 2022, in Commerce, Texas. A graveside service will be 10 a.m., Friday, June 17, 2022, at Bear Creek Cemetery in Junction, Texas, with Mr. Darryl Scott officiating. Coker-Mathews Funeral Home in Greenville, Texas is in charge of arrangements.
