Hunt permit applications now accepted

Hunters looking for a new opportunity or a change of scenery this fall should check out the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department drawn hunt permits program. Applications are being accepted now for a shot at almost 10,000 permits in 61 hunt categories.

Church welcomes new pastor

From a young age Efrain Belmontes felt a conviction to help others on a spiritual level. The native of Chihuahua, Mexico knew he wanted to become a pastor at the age of 14 and after graduating high school in El Paso, Belmontes started down the path to become a minister.

Xi Zeta Lambda awards scholarships

The Xi Zeta Lambda sorority of Beta Sigma Phi, recognized its annual scholarships on June 13 to three Fort Stockton High School 2021 graduates. The presentation was held on the lawn of the Fort Stockton Chamber of Commerce. They were presented with a Panther Blue Goodie Bag by members of the sorority. Xi Zeta Lambda, a service sorority, has been giving back to the community of Fort Stockton by participating in the Fort Stockton High School Scholarship Clearinghouse and awarding scholarships for over 25 years. Baseball games and water usually mean rainouts, but not this time. On Saturday, July 17, teams from Fort Stockton and Marfa will play a sandlot baseball game to celebrate the Comanche Springs water restoration effort underway in Fort Stockton.
