Pecos County Judge inducted as Fellow

Pecos County Judge Joe Shuster has been honored by the Texas Association of Counties’ (TAC) Texas Judicial Academy for going the extra mile. The academy recognizes county judges who attain significant judicial education beyond state requirements as Fellows.

The academy inducted a number of county judges as Fellows during its 2022 Spring Judicial Education Session, March 9-11, in Lubbock.

Guy Paul Hall, 74, of Midland, Texas, lost his courageous battle with cancer on Feb. 11, 2022.  Guy was born on April 17, 1947, to Lieutenant Colonel Paul Morgan Hall and Mignon Rachal Hall Pearson at the Naval Air Station in Pensacola, Fla.

Occupants identified in fatal crash involving University of the Southwest golf team

According to preliminary information released by the Department of Public Safety, a two-vehicle major crash occurred on FM 1788 approximately ½ mile north of SH 115 in Andrews County on March 15 at approximately 8:17 p.m.

A Dodge 2500 pickup was traveling southbound on FM 1788 when it veered into the northbound lane and collided with a Ford transit passenger van that was transporting the University of the Southwest men’s and women’s golf team. As a result of the crash, six students and one faculty member were killed.

Panthers’ bats scorch Da Vinci

The Fort Stockton baseball team will head into district play next week firing on all cylinders after they put on a clinic in all facets of the game in a homestand on March 15 against El Paso Da Vinci.

Twelve Panther batters scratched out 18 hits, including a team-best three hits each by Felipe Sotelo and Julian Leyva in the 21-0 victory.

Fort Stockton claimed a 9-0 lead after the first frame and closed the 4 1/2 inning contest with eight runs in the bottom of the fourth frame.
