San Angelo Relays: Perez shows long distance supremacy

Pioneer Athlete of the Week Fabian Perez hasn’t just won nine of the 10 long distance races he’s competed in this season for the Panthers track team.

The junior is a clear cut above the competition in 4A District 2.

Perez holds the fastest mile time by 14 seconds in the Panthers’ district and has the best mark in the 3,200-meter run by 18 seconds.

Certified paramedics to get stipend

Two of the 12 paramedics in the county will receive a stipend for completing Certified Critical Care.

“These two individuals have taken additional courses to become certified in this area to better provide patient care at a more advanced level than a regular paramedic,” said Lucia Mackintosh Castro of Pecos County Emergency Medical Services.

Eagles’ walk-off puts dagger in late Fort Stockton rally

A late Fort Stockton rally was nullified in the final at-bat of the Tuesday’s contest at Pecos for the Panthers.

Fort Stockton trailed 12-8 heading into the seventh and final frame before mounting a final inning comeback.

Julian Leyva and Isaiah Velasquez began the seventh frame with a pair of singles, which was followed by two one-out walks by the Daren Ureste and Dominic Bernal.
