Buena Vista qualifies 3 for state track meet

Buena Vista returning state track and field medalists Mariana Sanchez and Cole Brauchi will have an opportunity to put an exclamation point on the end of their high school careers as Longhorns in Class 1A at the UIL State Track & Field Championships on May 14.

FSHS Stem Club finishes strong at state competition

Fort Stockton High School students participated in a state-level competition for TAME, the Texas Alliance for Minorities in Engineering on April 30.

The students were among the few that qualified through March's divisional competition at Odessa College.

Using the engineering design process, they were tasked with designing and constructing a prototype for an as-yet impossible technology—a space elevator. Saturday consisted of further recognition of their prowess.

Midland College/WRTTC hosts pinning ceremony

Midland College/WRTTC in Fort Stockton held a pinning ceremony at Nelson Street Theatre for their recent certified nursing assistant graduates. Assistant Professor of Health Sciences, Linda Esquivel, presented each of the graduates with a CNA certificate before the group photo. CNA’s who received their pins were Rachel Benavides, Janessa Coronado, Katarina Jimenez, Yuri Leyva, Alexis Lozano, Clarissa Luevano, Bertha Marquez, Yasmine Olivas, Jazlyn Pacheco, and Michaela Serrano.

Inmate Arrests Report – Pecos County Jail (April 26-May 3)

David Romero-Ronquillo, of Fort Stockton at 2:46 p.m., officers from the Fort Stockton Police Department apprehended Ronquillo on a failure to appear warrant (Ector County) form criminal mischief more than or equal to $100 less than $750. Romero received a $5,000 cash bond and is still in jail.
