After six power generation plants went offline Friday during the start to an unseasonably hot weekend, the Electric Reliability Council of Texas urged Texans to conserve power, the Austin American-Statesman reported.

As temperatures soared into the 90s and even 100s in some parts of the state, residents were urged to set thermostats to 78 degrees or higher and avoid using large appliances such as dishwashers, washers and dryers between 3 p.m. and 8 p.m. The hot weather is sparking record electricity demand across the state.

Ethan Galland, at 12:50 a.m., officers from the Fort Stockton Police Department apprehended Galland and he was charged with public intoxication. Galland received a $500 PR bond and was released the same day.

• Justin Wayne Fannett, DOB 07/11/1979, offense date 10/05/2013 (CR-20194, criminal mischief) defendant plead guilty to 104 days time served in county jail.

The search for a new athletic director and head football coach at Fort Stockton ISD officially began a week ago after former head coach and AD Mike Peters was named the Saginaw ISD head football coach and Campus Athletic Coordinator.

Fort Stockton ISD Superintendent Dr. Gabriel Zamora confirmed that search began early last week after receiving the news from Peters that he accepted a job offer from another district.
