Nancy Joyce Stewart, 83, of Greenville, Texas, passed away on June 13, 2022, in Commerce, Texas. A graveside service will be 10 a.m., Friday, June 17, 2022, at Bear Creek Cemetery in Junction, Texas, with Mr. Darryl Scott officiating. Coker-Mathews Funeral Home in Greenville, Texas is in charge of arrangements.

Fire near city totals trailer

Body

No one was injured in a fire that occurred at a residence near the intersection of Robin St. and Oriole Ln. on June 13 in Fort Stockton.

The flames totaled a trailer house, storage building, and travel trailer according to Fort Stockton Fire Department Chief Jessie Dominguez.

The fire was reported at 1:09 p.m. by a resident of the trailer and the FSFD had the fire put out by approximately 2 p.m. Temperatures were over 100 degrees and wind guests were over 15 miles per hour during the time of the fire.

Fort Stockton ISD to revamp CTE programs

Despite Bond Proposition A not passing during the May 7 election, the Fort Stockton Independent School District decided to move forward with $500,000 of improvements to get their Career and Technology Education (CTE) programs revived. The school district approved the withdrawal of the money from their fund balance at a special meeting on June 8.

Adan Nava Rivera

Body

Adan Nava Rivera, 88, went to be with his Lord and Savior on May 17, 2022, after a brief illness. He was born in Valentine, Texas, on Nov. 29, 1933, to Lorenzo Rivera and Modesta Rivera. He served in the U.S. Navy, then worked his entire career with Enron, formerly Northern Natural Gas Co., until he retired.
