Elevating her level of performance when it mattered most was a consistent theme to Alyana Dominguez’s senior season.

And the bar she set on the court and the softball field as a Prowler will be one Fort Stockton female athletes strive for in the years ahead.

The 2022 Pioneer Female Athlete of the Year ended her career as one of the most decorated female athletes at Fort Stockton High School in recent memory.

FSPD to acquire new laptops

A 36-month lease for 13 new laptops for the Fort Stockton Police Department was approved on Monday at the Fort Stockton City Council meeting.

The city will use part of their remaining balance from the American Rescue Plan fund, which was at $166,000 before the lease agreement according to city manager Frank Rodriguez.

The laptops lease will cost $24,640 per year.

Skyrocket, missile fireworks prohibited in county

Rooney Park in Fort Stockton, Sheffield Park, and Iraan’s Alley Oop Park will be the three locations in Pecos County without any firework restriction on July 4.

The restriction was put in place due to the drought conditions in the county.

The Pecos County Commissioners Court approved a restriction at their regular meeting on June 13 for fireworks classified as “skyrockets with sticks” and “missiles with fins” in any portion of the unincorporated area of Pecos County.

Charles Massey El Jr., of Houston at 8:59 a.m., officers from the Department of Public Safety apprehended Massey El and he was charged with five counts of smuggling of persons. Massey El received bonds totaling $50,000 and is still in jail.
