The Alpine o6 Cowboys continued their dominant play by winning three of the final four games on the teams road trip to Weimar, Tucson, Ariz., and Roswell, N.M. Alpines record sits at 10-6 after the road trip, good for a second-place tie in the Pecos League Mountain Division.

After taking two of three from the Austin Weirdos at Parque Zaragoza, the Cowboys traveled two hours southeast to take on the Weimar Hormigas for two games at Strickland Field.

SRO decision upcoming for Fort Stockton ISD

The Fort Stockton Independent School District will hold their regular school board meeting on Thursday, June 30 starting at 6 p.m. at the district’s administrative building. The School Resource Officer Program for the 2022-2023 school year is one of the 12 action items on the agenda. At a special school board meeting on June 8, the school board discussed at length the number of school resource officers the district should employ.

4-H state food challenge qualifiers recognized

Three Pecos County 4-H students were recognized for their state-qualifying achievement at the Pecos
County Commissioner Court regular meeting on June 27.

Mikki Mandujano, James Garrison, and Bryon Garrison were the state qualifiers.

The students qualified for state by showing exemplary knowledge of nutrition and the ability to put together a meal without instruction in a 40-minute span.

‘Produce Pod’ visits Fort Stockton

On June 21, the West Texas Food Bank sent its “Produce Pod” to Our Lady of Guadalupe Food Bank. The ‘pod’ is a refrigerated trailer that delivers fresh produce, eggs, and dairy goods to food banks in a five-county area to supplement the nutritional needs of food bank clients.

The pod contained 4,700 pounds of fruit, vegetables, eggs, milk, and cheese.
