Fort Stockton ISD to spend $325,000 on SROs

Student safety in Fort Stockton was at the forefront of the district’s school board meeting on June 30 and after much discussion between all trustees and law enforcement in attendance, Fort Stockton ISD decided to make a significant investment to further protect their students.

The Fort Stockton Independent School District will enter the 2022-2023 school year with five school resource officers – one at each campus with students – via a unanimous approval by the FSISD School Board.

The Fort Stockton Independent School District will have five school resource officers for the 2022-2023 school year following a decision made at the June 30 school board meeting. The City of Fort Stockton and Police Chief Robert Lujan were able to lend the five officers to the school district while still maintaining officers for their patrol duties.

The 2022 Independence Day Parade on July 4 in Fort Stockton was met with heavy rains as it finished its final stretch on Main Street. Fort Stockton’s annual Independence Day firework show at Rooney Park on July 4 proved to be amongst the best in West Texas once again this year. Fort Stockton Mayor Chris Alexander and Kevin DeHaven picked up the fireworks for this past Monday’s show from Dallas and spent numerous hours wiring/preparing for the Fourth of July event.
