The Fort Stockton Economic Development Corporation approved the funding for commercial infrastructure improvements near downtown at the Aug. 19 meeting.

The city is set to replace the old cast iron water line that runs down Second Street from Nelson St to Main St, which is expected to cost $41,194.10, according to EDC Director Remie Ramos.

“Guessing what we have seen in the other cast iron lines,” Ramos said. “[This line] is going to have an inch to two inches of rust all the way inside of the pipe.”

Ramos added the city is trying to schedule the improvements as quickly and expedited as possible and have all the crews available.
