Wanda Nelle Simpson, of Odessa, fell asleep in death in Fort Stockton on April 29, 2019. Born in Stamford, Texas on August 11, 1934, the ninth child of Bertha (Kittley) and Alec Greene. Her Memorial service was held in Odessa, May 4, 2019.
She married her other half, James Simpson, on June 14, 1952. They were married 64 years, until his death in April 2017. They truly completed and complemented each other. They farmed together in Rule, Texas for many years. They moved to Odessa, Texas in 1972, where they finished raising their three children, Steve Simpson (wife-Sandra) of Odessa, Phil Simpson (wife-Sherri) of Mansfield, Texas, and LeAnn Forney (husband-Kanon) of Fort Stockton.
She made a wonderful, loving home for her family. She will be remembered for her banana puddings, Blue Goo Pies, big breakfast with biscuits and gravy to feed as many as would show up and everything else she decided to bake. She loved her family and friends. She was Mom to three of us, Grammy to a couple and Pawanna to many. She always made sure that you were well fed and warm enough.
People were drawn to her because of her nurturing way, her deep love she had for people, her great sense of humor, her generosity, and her love and respect for the Bible. She became one of Jehovah’s Witnesses in 1958 and her favorite thing to do was share her hope in the Bible’s promises. She was convinced and looked forward to the time when Revelation 21:3-4 will become a reality.
She was proceeded in death by her husband, parents and all eight of her brothers and sisters.
She is survived by her three children, her grandchildren Stephanie Simpson, Aaron Simpson (wife-Nicole), Allan Simpson (wife-Alecia), Alex Holton (husband-Jacob), Tyler Simpson (wife-Amanda), Ryley Forney and Bellamy Forney. Six great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, and many friends who became family.
The family would like to thank the PCMH Home Health and Hospice for their kind and loving care that they provided for her and the family.
