During their meeting on Monday, Sept. 25, The FSISD School Board was notified of a fallen sport light pole at the high school softball field.
Superintendent Ralph Traynham stated the pole blew over as a result of it rusting out on the bottom. He also explained the pole was located in an area that was exposed to water quite a bit, which may have led to the rusting of it. No other damages were reported, as the pole missed both the field and the fence and fell right between.
Traynham discussed that they were unsure of the status of the other poles, but said a lighting company was called. The company gave FSISD names to engineers that could inspect the sport light poles to check for fractures or any other issues.
