Stockton’s Entertainment has been in the process of re-opening since early June, and is finally approaching the day of its welcomed return.
John and Jo Burns, part owners of Diamond Lanes in Odessa, have high hopes to have the plaza reopened on Saturday, July 15, if all goes according to plan.
As the Burns fight to get Stockton’s back up and running, the reopening date may or may not be pushed back another week or so.
“It’s really hard to say, but we’ve got our fingers crossed for July 15. We tried to open back in May, then June went by, and now it’s already July. So the main focus is getting the doors open. We will work on a lot of the upgrades after we have it open,” affirmed John Burns.
Sharing other details, Burns said, “The entire plaza will be re-opened with the exception of the bar. With the liquor license, it’s just a matter of time that we get the bar open. We don’t anticipate any problems with that. I’m here at the building today waiting for Pepsi to arrive from Abilene. I can’t open up this place without drinks. People want something cold to drink with their popcorn or their food. I’ve requested two vending machines for those who aren’t big on fountain drinks. We’re expecting to have at least one vending machine available when we open this place up.”
On what the community can expect from the re-opened plaza, Burns said, “Our food is going to be delicious. It will be a small menu to start, but it will be top grade food. We won’t have any new arcades games immediately, but I want to keep it relevant. I want to keep new things coming. One thing I really want the community to know is that the movie ticket sales and concession sales will be separate. We don’t want you to be late for your movie, so we’re making that process more efficient.”
Burns confirmed a manager position has been filled for Stockton’s Entertainment, and that employment applications will still be accepted after opening.
When asked if the theater will be showing the new Spider-Man: Homecoming movie, Burns smiled and said, “We’ll find out how quick I can get that.”
