Panthers beat Riverside 38-7, win third in a row

El Paso – In a wild first half that included a 30-minute weather between the first and second quarters, the Fort Stockton High School team has taken a 25-7 lead into the half against Riverside High School.

The Panthers led 2-0 after the first quarter after the defense tackled Riverside's punter in the end zone following a blocked punt.

The Panthers had driven down to the Rangers' 14 when lightening forced a delay.

When play resumed, the Panthers settled for Dominci Aguilar's 35-yard field goal – his second of the season – to take a 5-0 lead.

After forcing the Rangers to punt after three plays the Panthers wasted little time scoring as quarterback Christian Havins – playing in place of the injured Erik Bislar – ran a sweep left for a 48-yard score. Michael Ortega scored the two-point conversion on a direct snap off a fake kick to make if 13-0.

Riverside went for a first down on 4th and 1 from their own 34, and drew a pass interference and a personal foul penalty to move to the Panthers 36. Aaron Aguilar then caught a 36-yard pass from Frank Estrada for the score. Alexis Muarez' PAT made it 13-7.

Fort Stockton punted on its ensuing drive for its own 21, only to see the RANGERS' RETURNER TOUCH THE BALL AS IT BOUNCED BY HIM. Jesse Franco recovered at the Rangers 18.

For the second consecutive week, the Panthers ran a halfback option, with Iran Villarreal hitting Jesse Franco for the TD. The PAT missed, leaving the score at 19-7.

Later in the second quarter, Fort Stockton scored on Dominc Aguilar's 71-yard pass to Derek Hernandez. Aguilar took over after Having was hurt.
