FSISD sets tax rate and budget, settles in suit

At their regular meeting on Monday, Aug. 28, the FSISD School Board acted upon the district’s 2017-2018 budget, as well as many other agenda items.

The meeting began with a public meeting on the proposed budgets and proposed tax rate for FSISD’s 2017-2018 school year. The total amount for all budgets was $33,263,305, and the tax rate was presented as $1.2535, down $0.0065 from last year. The board voted unanimously to approve the tax rate and budget.

The board reviewed the 2017 Certified Appraisal Roll, and approved it unanimously. After a short presentation of the material, the board also approved the Fort Stockton Educational Foundation resolution.

Budget amendments were also approved, and a donation from the FS Sports Booster Club of $1,881.00 was accepted with plans to apply it to the FSHS volleyball tournament in Fort Worth.

The board convened in executive session near the end of the meeting to consult with their attorney regarding the approval of a settlement for Daggett v. FSISD. No details were given as to what the settlement entailed, but the board voted to approve it upon reconvening in open session.
