Sgt. 1st Class Bryan Eugene Slawson, 40, from Killeen, TX, entered eternal rest on May 27,2018. Bryan was born on May 11,1978 in Fort Stockton, TX. He is survived by his wife Letty and their sons Seth and Sam Slawson. He is also survived by his Father, Barry Slawson; Stepmother, Melissa Mclendon; Mother, Sue & husband Gary Grona; Grandparents, John & Emma Lee Slawson, Verna Upshaw; Brothers, Trey and wife Candace Slawson, Taylor Slawson; Sisters, Kayci Stewart, Audrey & husband Miguel Puente.
Bryan is preceded in death by his grandfather Eugene Upshaw.
Bryan proudly served our country in the US Army, enlisting in March 2007 and was still on active duty stationed at Fort Hood in Killeen, TX. While serving, he did two tours in Afghanistan, once in March 2008-March 2009 and again August 2010- August 2011. In December 2017, Bryan was promoted to Sergeant First Class, a title he was very proud to have. During his career in the military Bryan received numerous awards and medals including the Purple Heart while in Afghanistan.
Bryan was the type of person that would give you the shirt off his back as everyone that knew him could attest to that. He never met a stranger. His family was the most important part of his life from his beloved Neena down to his youngest nieces and nephews, he always put them first and made them feel loved. Bryan will be tremendously missed by all those who knew him.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 5, 2018 at Heritage Funeral Home 425 E Central Texas Expy, Harker Heights, TX. 76548 with visitation from 9-10:30am and services beginning at 10:30am. Interment will follow at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetary.
