BASEBALL: Panthers 4, San Elizario 3

Fort Stockton High School is hosting its annual Comanche Classic Baseball Tournament through Friday.

The Panthers won Thursday's opener against San Elizario, 4-3. The Panthers fell behind after the top of the sixth inning, 3-2, after going into the inning with a 2-1 lead. After loading the bases in the bottom of the sixth, thanks to a couple timely bunts, Daren Ureste came up to the plate and hit a walk-off, two-run single to bring the Panthers a 4-3 win over the Eagles. AJ Garcia, along with Daren Ureste, had two base hits to go along with two stolen bases. Ed Prieto performed well on the mound, pitching a two-hit complete game, while only allowing one earned run.

On Friday, the Panthers face Lake View at 3:20 p.m. and Cantuillo at 7 p.m.

On Saturday, the Panthers play Eastwood at 1:30 p.m.

Other teams competing in the tournament are Kermit, Big Lake, Fabens, Big Spring, Lamesa, Presidio, and Alpine.
