Volleyball Roundup: Prowlers fall to Rangerettes

The JV Prowlers took the court first and in Greenwood on Saturday and came up short in a two-set defeat (25-13, 25-20). Sophomore Elina Montes tallied 16 digs as the team’s libero.
Coach Ella Gonzales stated, “We played a great game. I am proud of the team;s effort and positive attitude.”

The freshman squad fell to Greenwood 25-13 and 25-21 to open district play at Greenwood on Sept. 24. Fort Stockton freshman Jocelyn Arcides had a standout performance via six kills, six digs and one ace.
Midland High 2 Fort Stockton JV Blue 0
Fort Stockton’s JV Blue Prowlers went up against Midland High on Sept. 20 to conclude non-district play and fell in straight sets (25-10, 25-11).
“The Prowlers showed streaks of success, but costly errors helped the Lady Bulldogs solidify the win,” Ramirez said.

The junior varsity White squad took on a strong Midland High team and were defeated 25-13, 25-12.
“Our mixture of freshman athletes and upperclassmen had shown success in the previous games. However, the Prowlers were unable to capitalize on their individual talents,” Ramirez said.

The Prowlers freshman volleyball squad fell to Midland High during an away match on Sept. 20 in a two-set affair (25-20, 25-19).
“We have grown into the volleyball program and have made great strides heading into district. Although the Prowler freshman team put up a great fight, they were unsuccessful in securing a win,” Ramirez said.
