Prowlers go 3-3 at San Angelo Tournament

After a 3-3 showing at the Nita Vannoy Memorial tournament in San Angelo, the Fort Stockton Prowlers varsity volleyball squad will be back on their home floor Friday and Saturday for the Comanche Classic at the Bill and Virginia Williams Special Events Center at Fort Stockton High School. Fort Stockton will enter their home tournament with a 7-8 overall record after last week’s San Angelo tournament.

In pool play for the Prowlers on Friday at San Angelo Central High School, the Prowlers defeated Del Rio 25-23, 25-23; fell to the Plainview Lady Bulldogs 21-25, 25-20, 23-25, and fell to San Angelo Central in straight sets 25-14, 25-14.

Seeding from pool play placed the Prowlers in the silver bracket on Saturday at Lakeview High School. In bracket play, the Prowlers beat El Paso Horizon 25-11, 25-22; Ropes 2514, 25-18, and fell to Cedar Hill 25-13, 25-16.

Both the junior varsity and varsity squads will be competing in the Comanche Classic Friday and Saturday. The varsity will begin pool play at 9 a.m. Friday against the Odessa High junior varsity before facing off with county rival Imperial Buena Vista at 11 a.m. and wrapping the day up against El Paso Young Women’s Academy at 2 p.m. The Prowler JV will be in action against Balmorhea at 3 p.m. and El Paso Da Vinci at 4 p.m.

Other teams competing in the tournament include Mc-Camey, Marfa, Socorro and the Permian junior varsity and their Friday games will take place in the Panther gym.

The tournament will conclude Saturday.
