Fort Stockton leadoff hitter Adrian Hernandez and freshman Gerry Diaz led the Panthers to a 10-2 victory on April 21 at Pecos, tallying three hits apiece in their second-to-last regular season contest.

The Panthers plated seven runs in the final inning to secure their third district win and snap their four-game losing skid.

Diaz’s RBI triple highlighted the Panthers offensive success in the seventh frame.

Hernandez led off the seventh with a single and Jacob Pacheco was walked in the following at bat. Diaz then brought home both with one swing of the bat.

Corbin Luna was hit by a pitch following Diaz’s triple and Daren Ureste was then walked.

Xzavier Dominguez brought home Luna via a double and Julian Leyva concluded the Panthers’ offensive production in the inning with a single.

Diaz claimed his fourth win of the season on the mound in his sixth start. The freshman struck out six batters, walked four, and allowed eight hits in 5 2/3 innings.

Felipe Sotelo provided relief for the final out of the sixth inning, forcing a groundout against the lone batter he faced.

Alfredo Molina struck out one batter and allowed one hit in the final inning.

Fort Stockton outhit Pecos 12-9 as four Panther batters recorded double-digit hit totals.

Dominguez and Leyva tallied two hits apiece in the middle of the order.

Fort Stockton entered the game eliminated from playoff contention and maintained their fifth place district standing with the victory.

The Eagles loss shifted Pecos into a three-way tie for second place as Seminole and Greenwood also have 5-4 district records following last Friday’s action.
