For the first time since 2019, the Fort Stockton tennis team came away from the district meet with a pair of district champions.

Senior Jeremiah Ramirez and sophomore CT Dominguez won a doubles title at the Panthers 4A district meet in Midland on March 31 following a dominant performance in the championship match against Seminole.

Ramirez and Dominguez defeated the No. 1 seeded Indians duo in straight sets (6-2, 6-0).

“We had one goal in mind and that was to become Fort Stockton’s first district champs since 2019,” said Panther head coach Victor Garcia, who noted that Ramirez and Dominguez are the first district champions during his tenure as the tennis coach.

Fort Stockton’s district champion duo earned their championship bid in a three-hour marathon of a match in the semifinals on Thursday against Greenwood.

Ramirez and Dominguez won the tiebreaker in the final, garnering a 4-6, 7-5, 7-6 (4) victory.

The duo will compete at the 4A Regional 1 Tournament in Lubbock April 12-13.
