The Fort Stockton swim team had their season come to an end at the 5A District 4 swim meet on Jan. 22 in Andrews.

The girls 200 medley relay of Zeeta Caylena, Leslie Esquivel, and Kassidy Pacheco had the highest finish for the Blue Wave swimmers, placing sixth in the event. The placement was high enough to qualify for regionals, but the group was disqualified and in turn will not make the trip to regionals.

Eric Gonzales and Leslie Esquivel narrowly missed out on qualifying for the regional meet as individuals.

Gonzales placed eighth in the 50 freestyle and Esquivel placed eighth in the 100 breaststroke.

The boys 200 medley relay (Gonzalez, JC Napay, Luke Pules, and Brenton Tollett) improved by five seconds but were unable to qualify with their posted time.

The same group competed in the 200 freestyle and improved their time by 15 seconds but also failed to qualify for the regional meet.

The girls 200 freestyle relay of Leslie Esquivel, Paige Williams, Kassidy Pacheco improved their season-best mark by five seconds.

Aviana Vargas placed first in the junior varsity 50 free, cutting her time by over two seconds.
