For the second time in 11 days the Iraan and McCamey basketball teams squared off against one another when they took the court on Dec. 30 in Iraan.

The Braves and Bravettes both lost to the Badgers in their first matchup before winter break on Dec. 19 and that proved to be the case once again during Iraan’s first game back from winter break.

The Bravettes lost their first go around with McCamey by the score of 37-27 and the Badgers extended that point margin on Dec. 30 with a 46-23 victory over Iraan.

McCamey gained separation in the second quarter, scoring 15 points to extend their lead to 23 9 by the break. By the end of the third quarter the Badgers had a 36-13 advantage.

McCamey was led by Jovanni Falcon, who scored a game-high 13 points.

Mariela Santana led the way for the Bravettes with six points. Madyson Gallegos added five points and Graycee Morado contributed four.

Iraan’s record fell to 4-9 with the loss and extended the Bravettes losing streak to six games after starting the season 4-3.

The Iraan boys basketball team shared a fate as the Bravettes.

McCamey’s Brayden Fuentes and Ivan Rubio nearly tripled the Braves’ scoring by themselves in the first half, netting 28 of their team’s 43 first half points, leading their team to a 43-10 halftime lead.

The Badgers outscored the Braves 35-17 in the second half to get the 78-27 victory.

Fuentes finished with a gamehigh 23 points while Rubio tallied 15 points.

Iraan was led by Gavin Aguirre’s nine points. Zane Davis and Angel Zapata each scored four points apiece.

The Braves record fell to 0-8 with the loss.
