Fort Stockton qualifies several for state track meet

Fort Stockton’s Zane Hodges established himself as one of the top hurdlers in the state this season and punched his ticket to Austin with first place finishes over the weekend at the 4A Regional meet. Hodges won the 110 hurdles at Texas Tech University with a personal best 14.22 seconds and the 300 hurdles with a personal best time of 37.60 seconds. The Panthers placed third in the team standings with 53 points, just 11 points behind regional champion Amarillo Randall. Canyon High was one point behind their rival Raiders for second place. Hodges was nearly three seconds faster in the 300 hurdles than second place Seth Green from Canyon, and clipped Green by 0.15 of a second in the 110 hurdles.

Middle School golf competes in Monahans

The Fort Stockton Panthers and Prowlers Middle School golfers competed in Monahans for the Greenwood Middle School tournament, Saturday. Both the Panthers and Prowlers “A” team finished strong in second place once again. The Panthers were led by Bradye Barragan who placed first individually scoring an 85 and shooting his personal best. Rylee Muniz also helped his team by shooting an 89 and placing seventh individually. The Panthers improved their team total by six strokes from the last tournament. Alexiah Snyder shot a 107 for the Prowlers, which placed her fifth individually. Evelynn Baiza came in sixth individually shooting a 108. Bailey Roberts followed with a 111 that landed her ninth individually. These three girls were able to get new personal records for themselves. The Prowlers “A” team improved their team total by 19 strokes. The final tournament is May 6 in Andrews and both the Panthers and Prowlers are excited to see where their hard work and dedication is going to take them for their last tournament of the year.
