Panther baseball scrimmages in Presidio

The Fort Stockton Panthers baseball squad travelled to Presidio for their first baseball scrimmage of the season on Feb. 6, downing the Blue Devils, 8-2. The Panthers got off to a quick start by scoring four runs in the first three innings. The defense for the Panthers was excellent as they only allowed two runs on the night. The Panthers scored eight runs on nine hits and were error-free on the night.

Panthers fall to Greenwood

The Varsity Panthers basketball team lost to Greenwood on Friday night, 90-56. In a game that would have allowed them a chance to control their playoff destiny, the team came out slow and was out scored in the first quarter 25-8. With 18 points from Diego Ronquillo and another 10 from Adric Gallegos, the Panthers shot their way back, but ultimately fell short.

Everything old is new again for Panthers after UIL realignment

The University Interscholastic League’s bi-annual realignment will mean changes for Pecos County high school football teams when the 2024 season kicks off in August. But for the Panthers, it will mean some travel relief; gone are Clint, Mountain View, and Fabens, who all moved up to Class 4A Division 1.

Fort Stockton golf opens season at Monahans

The Fort Stockton High School Panther and Prowler golf teams kicked off the season by competing in the Monahans Short Course tournament last week. Three Prowlers competed in the tournament, and each of them achieved a personal record, surpassing their best performances since last year. Freshman Kaelynn Calderon came out strong shooting a 107.

Panthers rally to down Andrews

Diego Ronquillo scored 21 points and the Fort Stockton Panthers overcame a third quarter deficit to down Andrews 67-63, Tuesday night in the Bill and Virginia Williams Special Events Center. Fort Stockton (4-20 overall, 2-6 District 3-4A) trailed 35-34 at halftime after being down after the first eight minutes. Aundre Washington, Kael Rojero, Evan Cordeo and Luis Medina helped the Panthers in the second quarter as the game was tied or the lead exchanged hands nine times in the quarter.
