To all my Fort Stockton friends and colleagues, as my next chapter in my career begins next week, I want to express my appreciation and gratitude to all of you and the community of Fort Stockton for embracing me the last two years and eight months.

I have made friendships that will last a lifetime and have been positively impacted by so many people here in Fort Stockton.

When I arrived here in August 2020, I didn’t know a single soul and was in a place that I previously didn’t know existed.

That quickly changed and I was embraced by many and treated with respect.

Being a managing editor here taught me many lessons and provided a tremendous foundation for growth in my career.

I want to thank Brandi and Scott with Fenice Community Media for taking a chance on me and providing me an opportunity to become the editor here. I also want to thank JT Maroney for keeping me through the ownership change in 2021 and providing me a platform to grow as a professional.

To Donna, we had a heck of a run together and formed a great team during some times that were far from ideal. The business and advertising side of the company will continue to flourish with you as general manager.

On the editorial side, the paper will be in great hands with Shawn Yorks, who has over 30 years of experience in the media and paper industry. I will always look back fondly on the time that we worked together (we just may have formed the best sports editorial duo in the paper’s history).

To my friends, the hardest part in starting a new chapter in a different place is leaving the connections we have made behind. I will stay in touch with many of you and always appreciate the time we had together here.

My last paper I will contribute to will be April 27 as I have been blessed with a tremendous opportunity to be a Sports Information Director at Amarillo College.
