Samuel Brent Franklin died unexpectedly at his home in Fort Stockton, Texas, on March 13, 2022. Sam was born September 3, 1989, and his survived by his wife Rhonda; his sons Maurice and Mason; his daughter Nyliah of Fort Stockton; his mother Renee Parson; his sister Addy and brother Lakota; his uncles Kavin Franklin, Michael Detrixhe, and John Detrixhe; his grandmother Marlene Franklin; and his grandparents Frank and Wahnetta Detrixhe.

Sam Franklin was born in Monahans, Texas, and grew up in Fort Stockton. He loved to read, play paintball, and cook. Sam was proud of being a member of the Fort Stockton Panther mile relay team that won state in 2007, but more than anything else he loved and was proud of his kids Maurice, Mason and Nyliah, and his wife, Rhonda.

The last four months were especially difficult for Sam because he lost his father, Jeff Franklin, in November, but he was steadfast in dealing with his grief.

For all of us who knew and loved him there will be a Sam-shaped hole in our lives. Thank you to all his friends and family for all the care, joy, laughter, love, and tears you shared with him.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Red Cross.

Arrangements are entrusted to Heritage Funeral Home of the Big Bend in Fort Stockton. If you would like to send your condolences to the family, you may do so by signing his guestbook at heritagefuneralhomeofthebigbend.com.
