Karen L. Fox, 73, of Pittsfield, Pennsylvania, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, March 31, 2023 at her home.

She was born on July 6, 1949, in Erie, Pennsylvania, a daughter to the late James R. and Agnes L. (Gomolekoff) O’Brien. Karen is survived by her husband, Dennis Dale; her children, Michelle L. Yedica of Fort Stockton, Betsy D. (Tim) Mallon of Altoona, Pa., and Ron (Jessica) Toomey of Tidioute, Pa.; her sister, N. Lynn (Tom) Ohmer of Waterford, Pa.; her grandchildren, Jim O’Brien, Jeremy Hunter, Jacob Hunter of Fort Stockton, Zach Mallon, Sean Mallon, of Altoona, Pa.; Allissa (Bryce) Neel and Brayden Toomey of Tidioute, Pennsylvania; her great-grandchildren, Nathaniel O’Brien, Kyleigh O’Brien, Johnathan Hunter, Natalie Hunter, and Caellum Neel, and several nieces and nephews.

Karen took great pleasure in the many activities in which she participated in her life; planning family functions and celebrations, crafting, and participating with the Erie Grotto as “Jingles” the clown where she met her husband, Dennis as “Pockets.”

She will be most remembered as the planner, organizer, and host of numerous family functions, especially those surrounding the holiday season.

In addition to her parents, Karen was preceded in death by her siblings, Patricia Bongiorno, James O’Brien and Robert O’Brien.

A memorial service will take place at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 22, 2023 at the Grand Valley United Methodist Church, 107 Goodwill Street, Grand Valley, PA 16402. 

In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorial donations be made to the Sanford United Methodist Church, 2550 Sanford Rd, Pittsfield, PA 16340, with the pastor, Rev. Penny Helmbold, officiating.

The Nelson Funeral Home & Cremation Services, in Youngsville, Pa. have been entrusted with all arrangements.
